Born in Salem to one of the eldest families living there Kahlia was send away to live with family in Boston to save her from the teasing they expected her to endure because of her which background. She was home schooled when she came back home far too often crying because she "could hear people thinking." Sadly at first she wasn't taken serious but when she told her aunt she knew about her locket gone missing when the woman hadn't spoken to anyone about it and had only thought about it she tested the girl by making her tell hat she was thinking right then. The little girl was scared and said she knew her aunt just thought she was a witch like her mother and grandmother as well but that she didn't knew what it meant.
From her 6th year till she was 12 she was home schooled ad then asked her aunt to go to high school. She knew how to block out people's thought by now but it was still hard on her and most times she came home extremely tired. She made it through high school and even got into college finishing business school after just 5 years. She took longer then others because she was always so tired but she managed to get through it all.
During College Kahlia met a guy but she could hear his every thought, which was why she couldn't ever relax around him. He eventually thought she was too weird for him and left her. She has dated different men but never felt comfortable. Once, thinking she was in love and the guy loved her as well and was patient she decided to have sex with him. Sadly after they had sex the thought he could finally leave her crept in his mind and she told him to "get the fuck out." After that experience she hasn't trusted men enough to truly let them get close and into her heart and she hasn't been in love for a long time because she didn't allow herself to feel those kind of emotions. Because of this she hasn't had any long lasting relationships as the guys she was with felt like she didn't open up. As soon as she knew they were thinking of leaving she told them they could and deserved better then her. Sadly all of them took the chance, which didn't help her confidence.
Hearing about her grandmother's accident and that the woman needed help Kahlia rushed to Salem. She is now working in the family home which is a home to a lot of students, artists and musicians as the rent for the rooms is only 300 dollars a month and it includes internet access and breakfast every morning. For 50 dollar extra they can also get a hot meal every night and there are a few people who actually take that chance. For those who don't do this every night but do want it sometimes they can get a meal for just 2 dollars.
Kahlia cooks the meals every morning and night and doesn't mind doing so. She knows the renters appreciate it and most of them are nice to her. Of course there are the usual assholes living in the building but as long as they respect the rules, keep their rooms clean and don't cause trouble they can stay. She knows one of the tenants is lusting after her and he creeps her out but there are also some who act nice but have cruel thoughts about her. Nobody knows about her telepathic powers except for her grandmother and she has no intention to share her secret with others as she is still weary to trust people. She sometimes snoops the renters when she's suspecting something but she never confronts them with their secrets nor talks about them.
Recently some new tenants have come to live in the place, which has 8 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms and she is eager to find out more about them. She hopes the creep will soon leave the place but she has a feeling he will as he got a raise and is thinking of moving to Boston. She's already putting ads out for the place as there are 2 rooms still free which means at the moment there are 6 tenants as her grandma has her own room downstairs and Kahlia has claimed the library to herself.
